Stephen Hegeman

Managing Principal
Stephen Hegeman has been responsible for managing complex projects ranging from healthcare and research facilities to corporate interior design to government offices. He focuses on improving operations and uses methodologies such as LEAN processes and Six Sigma. He also believes in due diligence to ensure that Francis Cauffman acts as advocates on clients’ behalf.
As the Managing Principal, Stephen oversees human resources, information technology, and legal and accounting services. Under his leadership, Francis Cauffman instituted Wavelength, an internal project manager training program, alongside a firm-wide mandate for expert-driven project delivery. In addition, he optimized support staff roles and introduced new accounting and IT systems. His focus on performance has resulted in continuous improvement and adoption of best practices. His internal efforts for Francis Cauffman streamline processes with improved results for his clients.
Stephen is an active member of the AIA and is on the Professional Practice Committee for the New York Chapter. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.
