McNeil Nutritionals had adopted a new business strategy to encourage collaboration and promote cross-functional teamwork. They came to Francis Cauffman with a compelling demand: make our space resemble our business culture. The design team launched a comprehensive research study into the work processes and organizational culture of the company. As a result, Francis Cauffman was able to design a seamless workplace based on function rather than hierarchy. A central atrium space acts as a “town center” for small or large meetings. “Neighborhoods,” separated by function, surround the center and each has its own variety of formal and informal work settings.
