Nemours duPont Pediatrics hired FCA to design its newly constructed medical office in Milford, DE, to provide pediatric primary and specialty services, as well as geriatric care. The clinic includes examination and treatment rooms, staff and patient support areas, diagnostic services such as X-ray and MRI, rehabilitation therapies, administrative offices, laboratory, and medication rooms. The geriatric care facility includes optometry services, including eye exams and an Eyewear Shop.

The project’s design and construction utilized an Integrated Facility Design (IFD) approach. IFD incorporates four phases in which a diverse team of end-users actively engages with the Architectural/Engineering team to concurrently design and document the project through a series of work sessions. It is an approach that has proven effective at reducing costs and schedule while eliminating waste.

The interior design approach continues the Nemours brand, using bright colors and architectural elements in each specialty space to assist with wayfinding. The spaces all have their own dedicated color palettes—including floor patterns and wall colors—that are also included within each exam room. The Senior Care Clinic uses a different-color approach that is sensitive to an older patient population, which may have different perceptions of color and contrast between surfaces.
