The ED will expand to 96 treatment sites and is designed to accommodate a future growth to 105,000 patients per year. As the ED needs to remain fully functional during the renovation, a complex phased approach will produce 11 care initiation rooms, 17 pediatric care spaces, 53 adult universal care rooms, 3 major trauma/resuscitation spaces, 9 behavioral health and a state of the art decontamination suite for ebola isolation protocols.
