As part of a large facility expansion, the additional 114 patient rooms met the goal of moving the campus to a private-room model. Planning initiatives stressed improved circulation for both on-stage and off-stage circulation. Providing appropriate access to each bed floor for families, staff, and support services. To get the design right, extensive reviews of mock-up rooms were undertaken. Getting input and feedback from staff, patients’ families, and community representatives helped shape the final design, from placement of medical gases to final furniture selections. The resulting design is a proactive, future-forward response to ongoing changes in the healthcare industry. Patients will now have privacy, maintain confidentiality, and enjoy lower infection rates attributable to private room accommodations.
