University of North Carolina: Koury Oral Health Sciences Building

Academic Academic Medicine Healthcare North Carolina
The 216,000-square-foot Koury Oral Health Sciences Building, completed in 2012, replaced the outdated Dental Research Center and Dental Office Building. The Dental Commons, a soaring sky-lit atrium, serves as the complex’s major social center, housing a café and ample tiered seating to accommodate assemblies and events. A 220-seat grand lecture hall features video conferencing and distance-learning technologies. There are two, 120-seat lecture halls in addition to a simulation laboratory.

In association with Flad Architects, FCA provided programming, planning and interior design services. Our work included classroom/education areas, departmental offices/dean suite, public spaces on both ground and first floors and interior architecture.

The Koury Oral Health Sciences building achieved LEED NC Gold certification.
